Phat Phil Mansfield's Biography

My current residencies are U Dirty Stop Out at Squares in Nottingham on Thursdays, a student night not just for students with drinks promotions all night.  Fridays and Saturdays see me at Jongleurs in Nottingham not only DJing the after show partiy, but also doing the sound, lighting and announcements before and during the shows. Other residencies have included "The Big Cheese" at De Montfort University in Leicester and Bedford, Simpkins in Leicester, Walkabout in Leicester, Lincoln and Sheffield and The Edge in Croydon.

I was one of the longest standing DJ’s at Leicester University for what was formerly known as “Mega”, their biggest night, regularly entertaining in excess of 1,000 people in their Student Union main room.

I have worked with some top names such as Scott Mills (Radio 1), Sonique, Dave Pearce (Radio 1), Clive Warren (Radio 1 and Capital FM), Graham Gold, Tall Paul (Sundissential), Farley Jackmaster Funk, The Scratch Perverts and Artful Dodger.

Being versatile, I have compered live PA’s, most notably with Atomic Kitten.  I have an extremely versatile approach to music and am not only a "personality DJ", but also feel just at home with dance music on vinyl. I am also an accomplished amateur comedian with my most recent large event being compere at Walkabout in Nottingham, of the Trent FM “Gag Factor”, a comedy competition run by a local radio station.

I have done club nights at such venues as Rick's Place in Norwich and Radio City in Birmingham and party nights at such venues as Club 54 in St Peters Port in Guernsey, Madisons/Freddies in Daventry, Rumours in Wakefield and The Stage Door in Wolverhampton. In the past I have been given the title “King Of Cheese”, but pleasantly surprise club goers with my mixing ability and music choice when DJ’ing.

I use the latest technology to DJ which means I carry one small box with a small mixer and controller which plugs straight into an existing mixer or sound system and doesn’t use any cd’s or records. As I am able to carry much more music with me electronically, I am able to cater for a much wider audience and I’m able to play to the audience that are in the venue, rather than being restricted to certain types of music.
